Watch out for Fraud

The idea that there is a potential for fraud on dating sites is not new. However, the recent introduction of AI tools has caused it to increase. In the 12 months ending in January 2024, a cyber security company reported a 2,000% increase in bot attacks on dating sites.

Some of the examples of fraud are:

  1. Romance Scams (also called Catfishing)
  2. Phishing Scams
  3. Military Romance Scams
  4. Inheritance or financial Scams
  5. Advance Fee Fraud
  6. Blackmail and Extorsion
  7. Money Mule Scams
  8. Fake Dating Sites (Subscription Scams
  9. Crypto Currency Romance Scams
  10. Gift Card Scam
  11. Fake Verification Scams
  12. Impersonation of Friends or Family
